Painless Childbirth

Driving to work one morning, five or six years ago, I discovered electricity.

Or something close.

I don’t know what I was thinking about, but these two verses came together in my head:

To the woman He said, “I will greatly multiply Your pain in childbirth, In pain you will bring forth children; Yet your desire will be for your husband, And he will rule over you.” (Genesis 3:16)

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

I found a co-worker when I got in to the office, another young woman who had been a believer much longer than I had, and explained my newfound revelation.

“Oh ya,” she said, somehow unimpressed at the life-changing wisdom I was bestowing on her. “There’s a book about that.”

Dang it. Too slow.

Years later, when we found out I was pregnant, I found that book. Supernatural Childbirth, by Jackie Mize, has been transforming the experience of fertility, pregnancy and childbirth for women, for decades. It’s simple, thorough, and full of testimonies of women who have applied their faith to conceive against all odds, and had wonderful, drug-free and pain-free deliveries. It’s very inspiring and very encouraging, and full – from front to back – with scripture.

Want to read it? Want a copy to give to a preggo, or a wanna-be-preggo you know? I’ll give you one. Christian Club Member Card not required.
